In the framework of the eighth edition of The Venice Glass Week (14 to 22 September 2024), the Fratelli Toso artistic glassworks presents the exhibition ‘Fratelli Toso 170th | 1854-2024’, from 10 to 29 September at its historical headquarters in Murano.
Founded in 1854 by the six brothers of the Toso Cangioro family, Fratelli Toso has always remained a family business and one of the main architects of the rebirth of glassmaking in Murano in the second half of the 19th century. From a production glassworks, today it has been transformed into an exhibition space that preserves a vast collection of 20th century art glass, together with its historical archive.
2024 will mark the 170th anniversary of its foundation, celebrated with a retrospective exhibition curated by Caterina Toso, the youngest descendant of the family. The exhibition highlights the most relevant pieces of 20th-century artistic production, presented together with archive materials that tell the story of the glassworks, with particular attention to murrina, one of the strong points of its production.
