The Gwangju Biennale Foundation has hosted this event at the Hotel Monaco & Grand Canal in Venice to celebrate the 14th Gwangju Biennale (7 April to 9 July 2023) and other major changes like the appointment of President Park Yang-woo, former Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism in August 2021, that has seen the Gwangju Biennale Foundation taking new steps in bringing Gwangju and the Gwangju Biennale to the world stage; the nomination of Sook-Kyung Lee, Senior Curator of International Art at Tate Modern, as Artistic Director of the 14th Gwangju Biennale in December 2021; “to where the flowers are blooming” their special 5.18 Democratization Movement exhibition in Venice, which opened in Venice on the same day as the event.
